A dis-service?

There are times in which I feel as though I am doing you a disservice.  Although I know you are receiving great benefit from all of the information, energy and rituals I send your way, I feel sometimes as though we are doing it ‘fast food’ style and trying to cram in as much as possible in the least amount of time.  Which I guess in some ways is good, considering really that there isn’t a whole lot of ‘time’ left.  Perhaps what I am saying is…. everything I’m giving you, each sephoria, in a classroom setting or face-to-face, would take AT LEAST one month each. With exercises, journalling, checkins and dedication to the path for an hour at least each day.  I have all the worksheets and daily ‘stuff’, but we neither of us can commit to that kind of time. So… we do the best we can.

I guess, all I am saying is… if I miss something, or if you don’t understand something, please say something or stop me.

;–)

  1. I like it this way.

I’ve always been more of a self-study kind of person. I do okay in classroom settings, especially when there’s group work involved. What I prefer, though, is the ability to engage with the material and dive into it when I feel at peak readiness to do so.

The thing that always gets me about class work is, you have to schedule it; its the only way to get everyone together at once. But inspiration doesnt work on a schedule. Sure, you can spend the first quarter of class invoking the right energy and manufacturing (or, more like jumpstarting) the muse to get things rolling, but its a lot of time to commit to show up and make it happen whether you feel like it or not.

Then there’s the self study option. I can go through my life, doing my thing, and when the inspiration is right, and the conditions are perfect, I can transition out of everything else in my life gracefully, and fully engage with what I want to learn, because its time to delve into it.

Now that Im a father and a business owner, my time is even more committed than when I was taking a full load in college and working two jobs. Now the flexibility of study time is even more important.

This is working really well for me. Don’t fret. The universe conspired to throw us both out of Portland so we could start my apprenticeship from afar, because thats whats best for me.
